Dream a Little Dream Week -2
Passion Is What Motivates Me To Action!
Our passion may be a dream, a vision, a burden, a calling or all 4 in 1! Passion is what is driving you to make a difference. Passion is where you are willing to risk everything to make a difference! And here’s something cool in the life of a Christian…God wants you to live out your passion!
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
In the month of Nisan, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was before him, I took up the wine and gave it to the king. Now I had not been sad in his presence. 2 And the king said to me, “Why is your face sad, seeing you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of the heart.” Then I was very much afraid. 3 I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?” 4 Then the king said to me, “What are you requesting?” So I prayed to the God of heaven. 5 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' graves, that I may rebuild it.”
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. 16 And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— 2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
What would you say is the desire of your heart? According to David, how is that reached?
Nehemiah was moving through life, doing his job when God put something in front of him that ignited a passion inside.
What was that thing that drove Nehemiah to want to make a difference?
What were some of the characteristics in Nehemiah that you think God used to ignite this passion?
What things are you currently doing in life that God may use to direct your passion.
Paul seemed to take it to an extreme in saying, I would rather be cut off from Christ than see my brothers miss God!
Is there anything or anyone in your life that ignites that type of passion?
Ask these few questions to help you discover your passion:
· Are you satisfied with your passion for God and your relationship with Him? What needs to change so that He becomes your focus in life? (Read Matthew 22:35-40.)
· How do you want people to remember you?
· What would others say you are most passionate about?
· What convictions has God given you?
· How has God gifted you?
· What do you want to accomplish in your relationships?
· How have you seen God use you to influence others?
God, ignite in me the passion you have created me for. Show me what I am best suited for. Help me to link my spiritual gifts to my passion so I can delight myself in you. Amen.
